Yuto's Biography
Name: Yuto Heartland
Age: 17 (D.O.B: 3rd March, 2001) - [This is more the date he was found. Coincides with Yuya's 'birthday'.]
Gender: Male
Occupation: Former student of Heartland Duel School - Spade Branch (XYZ Dimension). Currently a member of the Resistance.
Duel Information: Phantom Knights (Ace: Dark Rebellion XYZ Dragon)
-----------------------------------------
Appearance:
Yuto is a teenage boy of average size with grey eyes and wild black hair with purple bangs that spike upwards to the right of his head.
He has a rather punk-ish looking style, wearing a green shirt, black tie, black trousers, black shoes and a tatty black cape, as well as a studded choker around his neck and studded wristbands. He also keeps a red scarf tied around his right arm to signal his association with the Resistance.
He may also wear a mask and goggles while out in public and occasionally a much larger red scarf around his neck.
His face strongly resembles Yuya Sakaki.
-----------------------------------------
Personality:
Yuto is a fairly calm, collected and quiet individual, who often comes off as very stoic in nature. Despite this, Yuto, like his counterpart, Yuya, cares a lot about his friends and does not actually wish to harm anyone. That said, Yuto does have issues, after the Academia invasion, of harbouring a vengeful anger towards them due to what they did, but there were times where even with that, he would still show his enemies mercy, often stopping Shun from carding them.
Prior to the invasion, while still having a rather stoic nature, Yuto was a little less serious and would smile more often, especially while around his friends. He would even frequently lose his calm composure while around Ruri (And at times, also around Shun when he spotted him while he was talking with his sister).
Yuto is quite independent, being able to work and survive fine on his own if need be. He also doesn’t open up to other people about himself very easily, but will start opening up if he feels he can trust the person he’s talking too.
-----------------------------------------
History:
Not a lot is known about where Yuto came from.
It is said that he was found as newborn baby on the streets of Heartland City (XYZ Dimension), the only item with him was one card (Dark Rebellion XYZ Dragon). No matter what the authorities did, they could not trace where Yuto came from or who his parents were. Nothing. He was eventually placed into an orphanage in the city where he was given the name 'Yuto'.
Yuto spent his days growing up and being educated within the orphanage. It was not uncommon for children to live there until they were considered adults as adopting children was not a very common practise, with people preferring to have their own children, over adopting one, but when the chance to be adopted came up, the staff at the orphanage would encourage the children to go with their adoptive family for the chance at a 'better life'.
When Yuto was around 8-years-old, he was almost ran over by a limo which belonged to Mr. Heartland. Heartland, once he learned that Yuto was an orphan, began to put on a good face for the public, using Yuto to give a speech about the state of the city's homeless and how this 'poor lad' had been suffering on the streets for too long! (Despite Yuto's protests that he actually lived in a very nice orphanage where he was looked after.) Carrying on this front of it being his duty to make sure the 'city's children do not go hungry and homeless' he publicly adopted Yuto and made sure he was given the best education, placing him in the Heartland Duel School, Spade Branch. The school, while it did regular education, also focused heavily on training their students as Pro-Duelists. This is where Yuto met Shun and Ruri Kurosaki, becoming friends with them.
Yuto, although appreciative at being given a home, remained indifferent to Mr. Heartland, knowing he was being used as a publicity stunt, but he was being given a home, food and education, so he rolled with it, figuring it was a good chance to become a professional duelist so he could eventually be able to support himself completely. He disliked having Heartland's last name and didn't wish to really be associated with him that much, so he would only ever introduce himself as 'Yuto' to others. Heartland would often go on long 'business trips', leaving Yuto on his own, but Yuto knew how to look after himself, so it didn't really bother him. Yuto refers to Heartland as his 'father', but only uses the word to be polite. It actually has very little emotional attachment for him.
When Ruri found out that Yuto was often on his own at home, she began inviting Yuto over to spend time with her, Shun and their family, to make sure that he had good meals and that he wasn't lonely. Thus, he started spending more time with them. They felt more closer to what a family should feel like to him, rather than the obviously fake 'family' he had with Heartland. He especially started to grow a particular liking to Ruri during this time, which she seemed to return, often subtly flirting with him when they were together. Yuto would often get self-conscious when interacting with her like this around Shun's presence.
During the time they spent together, Yuto adopted the belief of making others smile through dueling from Ruri, who got the notion from Yushou Sakaki.
As Yuto grew much closer to his two friends, he found himself opening up more to them about himself and his life, something he rarely did around most other people, eventually entrusting them with the information that his adoptive ‘father’ was Mr. Heartland, the mayor of their city. The two siblings respected Yuto’s choice to keep this fact under wraps from others.
These carefree days carried on until the fateful day when Heartland was attacked by Academia from the Fusion Dimension. Together with Shun, Ruri and other survivors, Yuto fought back against the Academia's forces, but one by one, more people were carded by Academia and their home was reduced to rubble. The remaining survivors formed 'The Resistance' and set up a camp so they could try and survive. Yuto, at this point, assumed that Mr. Heartland had probably been carded by the Academia forces.
Then, Ruri was confronted and captured by Yuri.
Soon after this, Yuto and Yugo met and, after mistaking each other as the person who took their respective bracelet girls, they clashed with their dragons, before Shun and other reinforcements appeared, forcing Yugo to flee.
Upon learning of The Professor who was leading Academia, Shun left to the Standard Dimension in order to confront/take hostage the Professor's son, Reiji Akaba and Yuto followed him. Since then Shun has been (reluctantly) working for Reiji due to them both having a common enemy in Leo Akaba (and it being the best chance right now to get Ruri back), but Yuto keeps in regular contact with him, as he does his own investigations into Academia and Ruri's disappearance, albeit, more in the shadows.

Abilities: Yuto has the ability to inflict real damage, destruction and pain in duels, without an Action Field being present. His holograms feel very real, being able to create wind or pin someone down. This is all due to Real Solid Vision being built into his duel disk (which also harbours technology to jump to other dimensions.)
Yuto is also very acrobatic and is able to move and jump with fast agile movements. He is also stronger than he looks (being able to punch and carry Shun in the anime, as an example).
He can go into an 'Awakened' state (Glowing eyes) when feeling immense anger and can also feel an uncomfortable burning in his chest if his dragon clashes with the other dragons belonging to his counterparts.
