*Somewhere deep within the run-down area of the city, Yuto sits in front of a fire inside a small, derelict building. This was the place that he'd been using as a hideout ever since he arrived in Domino City.
The walls were cracked, the windows broken, the door off it's hinges, but he'd tried his best to make it as private a possible, using rags he found to hang up in front of the windows and doorways in the hopes to keep away any unwanted attention, as well as to try and keep as much of the cold out as he could.
The room itself has been pilfered of anything even remotely valuable long before Yuto had arrived, now all that was in the small room were things he'd brought with him and the things he'd found around the city that he felt might be useful.
A pile of tattered blankets were at the back of the room which is where he slept, a small collection of old out-of-date magazines and newspapers he'd found around the city were nearby, as well as a small pile of branches and sticks he used as firewood.
Throwing a few more of the sticks into the fire, he silently stares into it, losing his thoughts to the flames dancing in front of him.*

A couple seconds pass.
Then whoever's on the other end of the door whistles a short bird call.]

Yuto.

*Yuto eyes fall quietly on Shun's wrapped up shoulder for a moment.*
You're still injured.

It was true. They'd both fought through a lot worse.
He looks back up at Shun, his expression softening slightly into a look of curiosity.*
How did it happen?
no subject
Some people from another school showed up and started attacking. They interrupted my duel.
...we fought afterwards and one of them put me through a table.
no subject
*This is enough to make Yuto suspicions rise.*
What school was this?
no subject
They're from Maiami City. They use aggressive physical attacks during duels to shut down their opponent's ability to maneuver or get Action Cards.
no subject
*He mulls on the name for a moment.*
... do you know anything else about them?
no subject
They use Fusion Summoning.
no subject
*Yuto's eyes narrow at the mention of that word.*
Fusion...
... so it's possible they could be pawns being used by Academia in this dimension.
no subject
[Dryly:] They may also just be assholes.
But something is definitely off about them. Especially their top two students. Kachidoki and Tendou.
no subject
It's worth looking into them.
no subject
She's in that league as well.
no subject
*Yuto's eyes go wide for a moment.*
... the girl we believe to be Ruri?
no subject
She goes by Yuzu Hiragi. She doesn't act much like Ruri. And she doesn't even seem to recognize me. But...
[He clenches a fist. He shows Yuto his disk. There's a picture of Yuzu:

We'll keep an eye on her for now, until we can find a way to confirm whether she is, or is not, Ruri.

Then we need to watch for an opening for either of us to talk with her privately, to see if she recalls any memories.
*Yuto pauses briefly before continuing.*
There is something I need to inform you of too.

*Quietly, he reaches into his pocket and takes out what looks like a folded page taken from a magazine, which he hands to Shun.
Once unfolded, Shun can see it's an article. An article with a familiar face on it.
The mayor of their home... and Yuto's adopted father.
Mr. Heartland.*
I found this article in a discarded magazine.
It seems we were mistaken in thinking he had been carded by Academia in the attack back home.
*The article appears to be about him fundraising for the Heartland City that existed in this dimension, which it states he was also the mayor of.*
no subject
[Shun takes the article and looks it over.]
....how did he get away from Heartland.
no subject
Then I asked if he had been present for the attack on this dimensions Heartland.
He wasn't.
He was conveniently absent for both.
no subject
He knew.
no subject
*Yuto gives a small nod. It seems that's the conclusion he had come to as well.*
I asked him about Academia, but he claimed no knowledge on it.
Then he tried to stop me from leaving. I don't know why he wished to force me to stay, or what his intentions were for me, but I didn't stick around.
I was able to escape with Dark Rebellion.
I suspect he knows more about Academia than he's letting on. That he was pre-informed on the attacks and maybe even helped Academia infiltrate both cities.

He's heavily guarded almost all the time by security.
He also has a henchman that was able to take me by surprise. Appears to be someone with ninja training who could also change forms into some kind of insect-like monster.
They were able to knock me out briefly with some kind of chemical.
no subject
If he's a pawn of Academia and he exposed Heartland to them, I won't let him get away with it.
no subject
I want answers for that too, but right now you aren't in the condition to force your way in to see him.

Then he picks up a stick and pokes his shoulder with it.*
no subject
[Then he looks at Yuto.]
[Then he glares at him.]
That didn't hurt.
no subject
Looked like it hurt to me.
Having an iron will is no good if even a stick can take you down right now.
no subject
Fine.
I'll wait. I'll do some more goddamn waiting, because I apparently haven't done enough of that since I got to Standard.
